Faith Formation

Children’s Religious Education: Offering a complete program to form children in the Catholic Faith, courses focus on full initiation of our children into the Church throughout their formative years. These classes include sacramental preparation for 1st Eucharist, 1st Penance and Confirmation. They are held Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose School for grades K through 8. Check the bulletin for dates and enrollment information on these classes in late August and early September.

RCIA, RCIC: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults & Children is a period of preparation directed toward non-Catholics who wish to acquire a better understand¬ing of the Catholic Faith. As such, they are designed as a vehicle for strengthening and developing faith in people considering entry into the Church. They are also an excellent way for all adult members of the parish to better understand the faith. Check the bulletin in September for dates and the location of these classes.

Adult Faith Formation is made available through various small community experiences that include: the Charismatic Renewal (Spanish), Cursillo (English and Spanish), The Neo-Catechuminal Way, and Why Catholic (English and Spanish}? For information on any of these groups please contact the rectory.

Sacramental Instruction

Baptismal Preparation: Instruction for parents of young children who are to be baptized is conducted by appointment with one of our priests. Sessions are available in both English and Spanish. Please call the rectory to make an appointment for English or Spanish preparation (See our Parish Policy Q & A).

Marriage Preparation: All couples who wish to be married at St. Ambrose church are reminded that they must meet with a priest of the parish before a wedding date can be secured. Archdiocesan policy mandates that this initial meeting take place at least six months prior to the wedding. After this meeting, the priest will then discuss with the couple the various aspects of preparation (See our Parish Policy Q & A).

Civic Formation

ESL (English as a Second Language) Classes – St. Ambrose is fortunate to have a group of dedicated teachers willing to give instruction to those in need of help with the English language. See the bulletin for information on these classes during the early part of September.
